C & M Machine Services was founded by Michael Hobbs in 2009

Mike was first introduced to the world of CNC when he took a maintenance position at a large manufacturing facility in 1988. It was here that he was first exposed to Mori Seiki, Hitachi Seiki and Mazak machines. A few short years later he took a position at another manufacturing facility as lead CNC maintenance tech. The machine lineup at this plant included Toyoda, Mazak and G&L machines. During the next thirteen years Mike received numerous certifications from Toyoda,Mazak and Mitsubishi as his training and knowledge of CNC repair was expanded. Then in 2003 an opportunity to join a Mazak distibutor as their service engineer was presented to Mike. Although it required moving to the Phoenix area, he readily agreed. This afforded further opportunities for specialized training in the field of CNC installation and repair. Mike thought this would be his last career change but it was not to be.

In 2009 the Mazak distributorship changed hands in the Phoenix area and Mike was presented with the opportunity to go into business for himself. After contacting many of the customers he had spent the last six years working with he receiving their assurance that they would gladly continue to use him as their service technician. The doors of C & M Machine Services were opened. Why the name C & M? It was because in the back of his mind Mike had hopes that his son Calvin would be convinced to join him someday. Thus the C for Calvin and the M for Mike created C & M Machine Services. Mike got his wish a few months later and his son joined the family business. Thus began the training for the second generation of CNC service technicians in the Hobbs family. Of course, being a good service tech does not necessarily make one a good business man and Mike is very fortunate to have his wife Shirley as office manager and part owner herself working behind the scenes to keep the administration side of the business flowing smoothly.
